Cage nuts for 19-inch racks

In 19-inch racks, devices and accessories are mounted to vertical profile rails. Many rails have square holes for cage nuts. The nut is inserted from the front and held in the rail by the spring cage while the device is screwed into place.

Matching the rack rail

Before ordering, check the rail’s hole shape and size, thread design and sheet thickness. Metric threads are common in European racks; imported or mixed systems may require imperial versions. The existing rail is decisive, not the cabinet width alone.

For servers, networks and accessories

  • Server and network cabinets
  • Patch panels, shelves and cable guides
  • Power strips and blanking panels
  • Measurement, control and transmission technology

For frequent conversions, the removable fastening is a practical advantage: components can be moved without holding a nut against the back of the rail. Screws should be started by hand and then tightened to the torque specified for the device and connection.

Packaging for installation and service

Schütt can package the required number of cage nuts with screws and washers as a rack assembly kit. Individual bags, labelled kits, inserts and recurring deliveries according to a bill of materials are possible.

If you send a rack sample, a photo of the profile rail or the required thread size, we can check the design precisely. Go to our product enquiry.
