Cage nuts for control cabinets and switchgear

Components in control cabinets are often attached to bent sheet metal or mounting profiles. Cage nuts create a robust thread without requiring access to the back of the profile. This is useful for housing covers, mounting brackets, covers and retrofit components.

What matters when selecting

  • Hole pattern: The square mounting hole must match the cage nut and the profile.
  • Sheet thickness: The cage spring must grip the sheet securely without deforming it.
  • Thread: Thread size and screw length depend on the component, clamping length and accessibility.
  • Material: Zinc-plated steel, stainless steel or another design is selected according to the environment and corrosion requirements.

For installation and maintenance

A cage nut can be inserted from the accessible side and removed again when required. Covers and accessories can therefore be retrofitted without dismantling the housing completely. When working on electrical systems, the applicable safety rules must be followed; a cage nut is not a substitute for an electrical protective or earth connection.

Delivery according to your needs

Schütt supplies cage nuts individually, according to a bill of materials or as a pre-configured kit with screws, washers and other standard parts. Packaging, labels and installation notes can be adapted to your article or internal part number.
